Senior Software Engineer - Go

Formation is looking for a Senior Software Engineer experienced in Go to join our accomplished group of engineers and data scientists developing a platform that provides a unique experience to each customer.

Our platform deploys millions of unique offers to our clients’ individual customers, showing customers their progress towards goals, communicates to them over a variety of channels (push, email), and managing the issuance of rewards in real-time. We place heavy emphasis on the visibility of work, peer-review, and knowledge sharing to help us produce quality software that meets our clients’ significant scale and requirements for end-customer experience. 

Specific areas you might work on include services that process user transaction data, ingress, and egress of customer attribute data, real-time offer state processing, and reward fulfillment. 

You will report to the Director of Tenant Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new platform features
  • Collaborate with your scrum team, other engineers, and Product Management, on requirement definition & feasibility, as well as effort estimation
  • Improve and maintain existing essential systems
  • Manage the full lifecycle of your code, from design to delivery and deployment
  • Help troubleshoot production issues, including participation in on-call rotations
  • Participate in and help improve our processes
  • Communicate and build trusted relationships across engineering, product management, and customer success

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Professional experience designing APIs and services to facilitate efficient architecture
  • Experience or interest in Golang programming
  • Familiarity with AWS services and associated technologies (Docker, S3, Beanstalk, Lambda, and Kinesis)
  • Confidence working in a startup environment and making quick decisions (and re-evaluations) based on evolving business needs
  • Comfortable with agile processes
  • Able to learn new technologies
  • Exhibits strong customer empathy and works to provide a quality total customer experience
