Senior Professional Services Engineer

Formation is seeking a Senior Professional Services Engineer to onboard enterprise customers to Formation’s products and solutions. You will work hands-on with our customers as well as cross-functionally with internal teams to rapidly implement and extend our product solutions. You are a passionate team player, with a wide array of technical and communication skills and a proven track record of successful engagements at Fortune 500 enterprise clients.

As a Senior Professional Services Engineer, you will have a front line role in helping Formation deliver a best-in-class product, service, and value to Formation customers. Your role is hands-on and you must wear many hats. You are expected to help scope the work required to support onboarding and new use cases, to write connectors to 3rd party martech products, to establish data flows between Formation and its customers, and to work with the security team to ensure the overall security of the solution. You’ll work in the Professional Services team alongside Formation data scientists, data analysts, product engineers, devops and security engineers, sales teams, customer success teams, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Experience with the post-sales customer engagement lifecycle for enterprise software, from kickoff to onboarding to adoption through to scaling, is crucial.
  • Primary configuration and coding responsibility for deployment and onboarding of Formation customers.
  • Assist security team to establish, document, and maintain security posture between Formation and our customers
  • Establish, document, and maintain data flows between Formation and our customers
  • Develop and/or configure connectors for digital marketing channels, loyalty systems, creative content management systems, and other 3rd party systems
  • Provide scoping and estimates of professional services work to pre-sales teams
  • Work with DevOps to provision tenant-specific infrastructure as required
  • Contribute to runbooks for customer solutions
  • Develop technical articles and documentation and assist in growing both our internal and public-facing knowledge base
  • Internal technical point-of-contact for diagnosing data & operational issues
  • Work with internal teams to guide, configure, test, and troubleshoot integrations and deployments
  • Work with Support, DevOps, Engineering, Data Science, Business Development and Sales to resolve deployment issues in a timely fashion.
  • Moderate travel is required

Skills and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in technical major or equivalent
  • 5+ years as a professional services or integration engineer in a customer-facing role serving Fortune 500 customers
  • Experienced with and proven knowledge with major cloud technologies and public cloud providers, including 3+ years of experience developing enterprise software with AWS products and services such as: S3, EMR, Lambda, Athena, Kinesis, Hive, Airflow, Spark
  • Strong data engineering skills with knowledge and mastery of SQL and common data management skills
  • Experience with Go, Python, or JVM based programming in a commercial setting
  • Knowledge of martech industry is preferred
  • Ability to drive a project from concept to release
  • Ability to handle technical leadership tasks (solution design, estimating) and adapt to various work settings in an advisory role
  • Team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and specifications clearly and efficiently
  • Ability to succeed in a startup environment working on projects and products from ground level and building process
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
